About MiningNexus

Developing MiningNexus has been a labour of love for its creators, Dr Carl Knox-Robinson and Mr Ron Denholm. Working on opposite sides of Australia, we have devoted over 4,000 hours to design, develop and deploy the initial version of MiningNexus. However the functions you now enjoy are just the tip of the iceberg for what we have planned.

From the conception of MiningNexus our aims have been three-fold:

  • to provide an extensive resource that is useful to everyone interested in exploration and mining: school children, university students, graduate and post-graduate researchers, geologists, explorers, miners, financiers, investors and suppliers
  • to make this site FREE TO ACCESS, unlike most other online resources of a similar kind
  • to establish MiningNexus as a community-driven site, much like Wikipedia.

Our initial focus has been on constructing several databases of key exploration and mining related entities: exploration and mining companies, univerisites and educational institutions, government organisations, non-government organisations, and societies. We have developed automated programs to collate news articles and press releases on many of the exploration and mining companies. We have also created a way for companies to use MiningNexus to manage their press releases and email lists at minimal cost.

Future Development

Our next job will be including community-driven databases of educational websites, and exploration and mining related software, similar to the lists created and maintained by the late John C. Butler in the 1990s.

We are also well on the way to developing an interactive database of mineral deposits around the world. We intend to link this database into Google Earth and will need a great amount of community support to populate this database. If you have any detailed informtion on ore-bodies, working or closed mines that you would like see added to this database, then please introduce your self to us.

A number of other functions are on the drawing board, and we will share them with you soon. If you have any suggestions for adding functionality, then please let us know.

How you can support MiningNexus

There are many ways in which you can support the development and maintenance of MiningNexus:

  • Become a member (it's free) and contribute to MiningNexus. As they say, many hands make light work! So help us find and fix errors, and identify new companies to add to the database and so on.
  • If you are an exploration and/or mining company, consider joining as a company member. You can then use MiningNexus to keep interested parties up to date in your activities and reach a far larger audience than using a stand-alone emailing system. Contact us for details on our company membership program.
  • If you are a company, consider placing a banner advert on MiningNexus. Contact us of details on our advertising rates and programmes.
  • Consider becoming a prize sponsor. Our first competition is a photographic one. Sponsor this competition and have your name associated with it. Contact us for more details.
  • Consider becoming a site sponsor. You will receive prominent banner advertising at the very top of the MiningNexus site and a permanent mention on our Sponsor Page. Contact us for more details.
  • Consider becoming a page sponsor and sponsor one of our key services (software directory, software database, deposit database). You will receive banner advertising and a permanent mention on our Sponsor Page. Contact us for more details.
  • If you are a service company for the exploration and mining sector then consider adding your company to our Services Directory. With our world-wide reach and dedicated audience it will probably be the best value for money advertising you can get. Contact us for more details on our service directory.
